Safe Journey Rescue is currently looking for volunteers and foster homes.

          The Safe Journey Adoption Center is located in Groomingdales Pet Salon & Boutique at 2275 16th Ave SW (across from Leonardo's and Dominos) in Cedar Rapids. Before volunteering for the first time, there will be some paperwork to sign and a brief orientation and tour. We hope helping us keep our cat adoption rooms clean and therefore our animals healthy and stress-free will be fun and rewarding. We take the "Five Freedoms" of sheltering very seriously and with your help we can achieve them:

• Freedom from Hunger and Thirst By ready access to fresh water and diet to maintain health and vigor.
• Freedom from Discomfort By providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
• Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease By prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
• Freedom to Express Normal Behavior By providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind.
• Freedom from Fear and Distress By ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.
